Just the facts:

Who is Amy Knupp?

I'm married with two sons, living in Kansas, where evolution doesn't exist. I'm a stay-at-home mom who is starting to get actual writing time during daylight hours, now that my boys are in preschool and kindergarten. I'm also the marketing chick for my husband's new web design company.

And beyond the basics, who IS Amy Knupp?

Hmm, I'm a former rebel-turned-soccer-mom, I guess. I love sarcasm, traveling, and playing armchair psychologist. What do you do when you're not reading or writing? Email and surf. Shop online. Play video games. Worry that I should be writing.

Bad habits?

Shopping online. Eating anything with sugar in it. Ignoring housework.

Favorite meal?

Strangely, I recently changed my diet for medical reasons and my tastes have completely changed. I now love lobster, crab legs and other seafood. I used to hate seafood.

Do you drink?

Not as much as I used to! I found out I'm allergic to beer, and you wouldn't believe how much that makes me want a beer. I generally stick to margaritas and wine now.

How do you unwind? (I realize this is sort of an oxymoron when you have children).

Long baths with a good book.

What really hacks you off?

Insurance companies, stupid people, and politicians. (That's the short list.)

What's something few people know about you or something people would be surprised to learn?

I like the smell of Play-Doh. *g* Clearly, I need to get out more!

It'll be our secret ;-)

What are you reading?

I just started BACK IN TEXAS, a Superromance by Roxanne Rustand. I recently finished THE PROTECTOR by Gennita Low. Excellent book!

What are your three favorite CD's? (Ya'll knew I had to ask about music)

Wow, how to choose just 3? My all-time favorite group is U2 and I don't know if I could narrow it down to a single CD by them. I also love 80s music and have a short attention span so I prefer to listen to a mix on iTunes. And I have a favorite classical CD that I listen to when I write. It's the only thing that doesn't distract me when I'm working. I think it's called Meditation-Classical Relaxation.

Do you own a cell phone (or are they the devil?)?

Yes, I have a cell phone and wouldn't be without one. Cell phone bills are the devil.

Let's talk Basketball (yes I read your bio!)-what's your favorite college team and why college?

I love the Kansas Jayhawks, as KU is my alma mater. College because it's more fun and there's more stability. I like certain pro players (former Jayhawks, mostly) but I can never keep track of what team they're on.

Do you think your kids will play?

Um, my kids are the shortest in their classes, and there is very little athletic talent in our family genes. So…I guess miracles could happen. ;)

Are you one of those fans who yells at the ref?

Hell, yeah. I come from a family where my mother yells louder at the TV/coach/refs/whoever is to blame than my dad. She got it from her mother.

Don't worry, Amy, I yell too--usually at my kids' games *blush*.

Now...on to writing:

How long have you been writing?

Almost four years.

How many manuscripts did you finish before you sold one?

The one that sold is my second story…but if you want to count how many times I rewrote it, I'm probably up in double digits.

What can readers expect from an Amy Knupp book?

I write character-driven stories I hope are laden with emotion and a touch of humor. I enjoy writing about characters who are realistic-the kind you feel like you could meet on your street.

Tell us about Unexpected Complications…

Unexpected Complication is about two best friends, Devin Colyer and Carey Langford. Their attraction finally boils to the surface just as Carey finds out she's pregnant by another man--Devin's cousin--who Devin can't stand. Devin has to figure out if he can get over his hang-up with the baby's father before Carey gets over him.

And there you have it! She's funny, she loves my favorite sport and she's a very talented lady. You can find out more about Amy at her website and visit with her at the communial blog she does with her critique partners and friends at Writeminded.
